Day 2 – Pacific Crest Trail (22 miles)

Day 2 – Pacific Crest Trail (22 miles)

The day started out perfect for hiking: overcast and cool. I set off early to Mt Laguna after being woken up by a fellow hiker leaving.

As the day progressed, I met some more interesting thru and section hikers. I also found that the miles today were easy.

The fun started when I near to Mt Laguna when mist turned into rain. I also found out on arrival that a heavy snow storm was due that night.

I set up my tarp in the soft ground the best I could by fixing to the surrounding trees and waited for the temps to drop and the snow to start.

It hit just before midnight.

The next 3hr were fairly sleepless, with constant adjusting of my shelter and hitting the sgelter to avoid snow accumulation.

The strong winds managed to take out one of the stakes when I was asleep with a little bit of snow managing to land on my feet before I woke and set it in place again.
