Day 22 – Pacific Crest Trail
I woke up to a free day; no walking and no organising, just resting.
And that is exactly what I did!
After a pancake breakfast, I lounged on the Anderson’s couch all morning. Just talking and playing cards with fellow hikers taking either the full or half a day off.
The most excitement for the morning came when Wrong Way, a Korean hiker who tries to walk south surprisingly often, came in with a broken shoulder strap. We stitched it together to last the 90 miles to the next major town, Tahachapi, where he could get a replacement bag.
We walked a couple of blocks to a cafe for some delicious burgers and the thickest milkshakes I have ever seen!
By the time we got back, a lot of people had arrived off the trail and a BBQ was going for memorial day.
I eat a second lunch just as Square Pants, Pano and the rest of the group I have been walking in and out the last few days strolled in.
We made a beer run and spent the rest of the day relaxing to the best of our abilities.
A classic zero mile day. Eating, relaxing and enjoying the generosity of the trail community. I owe them so much.
I’m also rearing to get back on trail!
