Arizona Trail – Mt Wrightson Alternative overview
Notes for north bound travel. Maps are always recommend.
At the trail junction at mile 64.8, take the Gardener Trail. I found 3 water sources between here and the next junction.
Climb to the next junction and take the Baldy Saddle Trail up. It will be dry from here until Sawmill Spring – it took me approx. 4 hours.
At the top, you have the option to head left for the 1.8 mile return Mt Wrightson summit.
However, at this junction follow the crest trail to the right towards Florida Saddle.
From Florida Saddle take the Sawmill Canyon trail towards Florida Peak. It is overgrown and slightly hard to follow for about mile until just after Florida Peak.
Continue down Sawmill Canyon Trail. You will find Sawmill Spring and some running water in a small stream halfway down.
At this junction take a left onto Greaterville Trail. It does not have it’s name on the sign, just make sure you don’t take the Aliso Spring Trail.
Greaterville Trail turns into a dirt road, Rd165. Take this to the AzT mile 79.9
