Winter Appalachian Trail – Day 14-16 (0 miles)
I am hanging out with an extremely nice family in North Carolina as I wait for my warm winter bag to arrive so I don’t freeze to death in this arctic mega freeze.
I was definitely not anticipating this extremely high snow year when I planned my winter Thru Hike and my Year Triple Crown attempt. The White Mountains currently has accumulated 220% snow! On top of that, as it currently stande, I will have to snow shoe over 1,000 miles. Some of it will melt out but most of it will remain.
Such an odd year and directly opposite to the last few winters.
I will be back on the AT shortly. I will be hiking north but I am now taking it day by day, with no real plans. I might continue to Katahdin or not.
I have another 10 months before I need to find work, so there will definitely be adventures to come.
