Winter Appalachian Trail – Day 34 (20 miles)

Winter Appalachian Trail – Day 34 (20 miles)

Slack packing adventures!

Angel’s Rest Hostel offered me some free slack packing options as I was the first northbound hiker (and I think that they wanted to test out the system a bit). I was a bit hesitant at first but it turned into a fantastic experience.

I decided to run the sections to have a different experience from hiking.
The day went rather well. It was easy with only one climb and then a big long ridge for the day before coming down and back into town 5 hours later. I really enjoy moving fast along the trail. Time passes so quickly as I’m just in that blissful, meditative zone almost the whole time.

Nothing interesting really happened, I was down by lunch and spent the rest of the day playing chess and watching TV at the hotel.
