Winter Appalachian Trail – Day 67 to Day 70 (zero miles)
New York City!
To be honest I was a bit overwhelmed (I know you can be underwhelmed, and you can be overwhelmed, but can you ever just be, like, whelmed? ~10 Things I Hate About You) in Manhattan.
It was also nice to ride out the latest storm in a city rather than on the trail.
It was a good break to see the sites and replace some of my old gear with new. I got new clothes, shoes and socks. I also organised the last of my summer gear. I am getting a Hexamid Solo Tarp from @ZPacksfor the PCT and CDT legs. I cannot wait to use my favorite 3 season shelter again, it has been far too long! I will also be rocking a new pack from @atom_packs . I am keen to put this UK based cottage company’s pack through the ringer and see how it holds up.
The @wizzsisters , whom I am waiting for, had a bit of an injury delay, so my city vacation has turned out a bit longer than I expected. This is not a bad thing and still on track to power through the last of the trail – aka no more side adventures.
I have formalised my plan and timing now to complete the Triple Crown. I will finish the AT around April 15th, head down to Boston and fly to San Diego to start the PCT on the 20th. After a semi relaxed 3 weeks in the desert, I will hit the sierras mid May. From then on it is all guns blazing as I race to beat winter hitting the San Juan.
